I went to see Kick Ass last night. The movie was excellent, for sure, but what surprised me the most was that the film was rated G. What’s even more stupid is the amount of parents who brought children to watch the film.
I cannot fathom the amount of awkwardness the parents must have felt by…
The problem seems three-fold: the censorship board, or committee, or ministry screwed up badly (I strongly believe they only watched the first 10 minutes of the film before going, “eh, kiddy movie”); that there doesn’t seem to be a classification board separate from the censorship board (or do the movie theaters themselves rate the movie?), and there’s no age verification checks at the movie theaters. When I went to buy the tickets for the movie here in 1Borneo, the counter lady asked if I was over 18 before I could buy them (the movie is appropriately rated in Malaysia).
Also, what sex scene?
